surplus of US$ 55 billion.
Environment
- Brazil has a protected area of 755,508 sq km. This
number surpasses the extension of the states of California, Washington DC, and
New York put together;
- Green country: there are 55,000 plant species;
- In three years, Brazil has diminished its carbon dioxide emissions by 1.4 billion tons, which has increased
the maintenance of the rain cycle in the planet.

Production
- Brazil produces tropical, subtropical, and temperate fruits, due to its
territorial extension, geographic position, and climate and soil conditions.
- It is the 3rd biggest fruit producer with 42.6 million tons produced in 2.2
million hectares all over the country.
Main production regions:
- Southeast, Northeast and South, especially the states of Sao Paulo, Bahia and Rio Grande
do Sul.
Commercialization
- The commercial production of Brazilian fruits has got two destinations:
- Fresh Fruits – 47%;
- Processed Fruits – 53%;
Exportation
- 31% of the fresh and the processed fruit produced in Brazil are exported to several parts
of the world.
- The Brazilian Fruit project has been
acting in the market since 1998 in order to promote the exportation of fresh and
processed fruits.

with the main requirements for the preservation of the environment, food safety,
